The ministries of First Church, Morehead City, are formed to meet the needs of people in their worship of the Savior. Needs are more often met when one meets more often for the full ministry of the local church. Come and allow the church to minister to your needs.

Blending voices of those who love to sing allows the Choir to convey a message in music that glorifies their Lord and Savior.

The Choir is open to anyone who desires to make a commitment to the music ministry both in attendance and in the enhancement of their God-given talents. It is recognized that vocal abilities vary from person to person, but it is believed that God can create a beautiful harmony among those who desire to praise him in song.

From traditional to gospel to spirituals to praise and worship, this Choir sings it all! Anyone interested in joining the Choir should contact the Choir Director.

Not only do these Choir Members sing together, but they also pray and play together!

Sunday School

Sunday School is for everyone, and we have classes to match your age and interests. Check out the classes, and come be part of a growing church and growing Christians.

Junior Church: The Jr. Church is open to all youths age 4-12; it is held every Sunday at 11:00 in the Youth room in the Cannon Building. We teach the youth about the Bible and from the Bible using skits, games, and songs. Our goals are to reach the youth through an interactive approach and to teach the youth about God's love for them.

Church Training Service for The Youth: CTS is open to all youths ages 3-18; it is held every Wednesday night at 7:30 in the Cannon Building. The lessons are oriented toward the youth and their relationships with God. Our goals are to show the youth that they can call upon God for strength when it is needed and to reinforce the fact that they are very special and that God loves them. We teach through skits, visual and audio programs, Bible study, Bible trivia, games, songs and prayer. Bus pickup is available.

Sunday School Classes: The Sunday school is a place where each individual can receive Bible instruction in a graded approach. Each person's ability for understanding as well as facing changing life experiences is different. Graded teaching prepares the teacher for each student's special need.

Also, quite important to Christian growth is that of finding fellowship with others of like age and interests. Sunday school provides that channel for connecting with others.

Preaching Services

The preaching of God's Word is foundational to finding God's will for life and work, regardless of the age. Pastor Johnson carefully takes the Bible and allows its message to become his message to the congregation.

Each service highlights a different approach to studying the Bible and receiving from it the needed direction for life. See the home page for Pastor Johnson's current preaching series for each service.

The Bible clearly states in 1Corinthians 1:18, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."

To preach "the cross" is to proclaim the gospel, and the gospel is the good news that Jesus Christ came to save sinners through His sacrifice on Calvary's cross. Such a message might appear to be "old fashioned" to many, but to those who put faith and trust in Jesus, they find that preached gospel sufficient to save from sin.

Come to First Church, Morehead City, where you will find God's will from His Word. You will find it insightful, convicting, encouraging, challenging, inspiring and hopeful. Don't miss out on God's direction for your life by missing any of the preaching services.

Ro 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
